Alpenrose Tips: some popular walks

Hike to the Wendelstein (1,838 m)

Bayrischzell’s striking houseberg, the Wendelstein, is already visible from Munich. The summit can be reached in about 30 minutes by a historic mountain railway or simply by cable car, which takes about 7 minutes. Or you can walk up to the peak in about three hours using one of the many hiking trails. Most trails are on the southern slope of the mountain and are free of snow from April to the end of November.

Shortly before the summit (at 1,724 meters) you find the famous Wendelsteinhaus , where you can have a rest before you climb the last hundred meters to the summit. Once you reach the summit you are likely to be overwhelmed by the breathtaking panorama of the Eastern Alps.

Hike along the Bayrischzell Höhenweg

On the Bayrischzell Höhenweg you will come to secluded, partially cultivated alpine huts and enjoy breathtaking views. The panorama above the valley which bears the name Ursprung (“origin”) leads through lush meadows and on the northern slope of the Sillberg to Sillberghaus, Germany’s first Almbad & Lodge with Hüttenromantik .

Hike to Brünnstein

An unforgettable tour is the hike to Brünnstein, especially in conjunction with a small climb and one night in Brünnsteinhaus.

The Bayrischzell hiking bus is also available for our guests and takes you to the starting point of your excursion. For further information, please contact our team at the Alpenrose or click here .
